The 2006 Asia Pacific Laser Championship concluded today after five days of racing off the National Sailing Centre, Singapore. Eleven races were sailed for both the Laser Standard and Radial fleets thus allowing two discards. [ Read more ]

After four days of racing, conditions are not likely to improve for 2006 Asia Pacific Laser Championship. With one last day to go and temperament conditions so far, no one knows what to expect of the weather anymore.

The first race of the third racing day at the 2006 Asia Pacific Laser Championship started with light winds averaging 7 knots. The late afternoon breeze continued to allow the Race Officers to run two races for both the Laser Standard and Radial classes. Due to the erratic weather conditions experienced the past few days, raising the AP (postponement) flag has now become a routine of the day.

Whoever thought the 2006 Asia Pacific Laser Championship was going to be hot and windless would think otherwise after today. Prayers for stronger winds were answered, the storms arrived in mid-afternoon and brought forth winds up to 20 over knots, not commonly seen in Singapore. The capsize carnival could well dispel the myths of light wind sailing in Singapore. [ Read more ]

Day 1 Report
- The first race of the 2006 Asia Pacific Laser Championship got under way today in Singapore. By chance, it also coincides with one of the wettest weeks in June, leaving the 66 participants with little wind and delayed start signals. [Read more]
